We are a performing arts school offering ballet, modern, tap, jazz, stretch & strengthen, musical theatre, singing, speech & drama to children from toddler age, as well as adult ballet classes at the Commemoration Hall in central Wadhurst, East Sussex.

We are immensely proud to be one of 30 schools across the world in the inaugural year to become an affiliate of the Royal Ballet School’s innovative training and assessment programme.

We strive to maintain a nurturing, inclusive and holistic learning environment, where pupils feel fully engaged with their teacher enabling them to thrive in every genre of the performing arts. We offer optimal student-led training that is focussed on the end goal and not on exams. The end goal being to either successfully audition for a vocational school to embark on a professional career in performing arts, OR to simply become a lifelong lover of the arts and an educated audience member, having had an enriched childhood by attending classes at CTS. All children have the opportunity to perform in our show once a year and to take part in ballet assessments, modern & tap, singing and LAMDA exams should they wish, but there is no pressure to do so. Some children may be invited to take part in competitions or auditions. We strongly encourage a huge sense of camaraderie to celebrate each other’s successes. We are a big family.

CTS is run by ex-dancer and ex-fashion buyer Hannah Risbridger who trained at The Royal Ballet School and Laine Theatre Arts. She is joined by an incredibly talented team of additional teachers; Olivia Safe, Josephine Rogers and Tina Frances.

What People Are Saying

“Fantastic lessons. Hannah is absolutely brilliant - and is very welcoming and friendly. My son loves attending the classes and I would highly recommend to other parents!”

— Laura, Henry’s Mum

““Nansi has attended Cygnets to Swans since the age of 3. In that time, I have seen her thrive in her confidence and ability, as well as enjoyment of ballet.

Hannah has a skill of teaching detailed technique, in an age appropriate way, whilst still maintaining the element of fun. This extra curricular class is a firm favourite and we can’t wait to get involved in more shows, competitions and assessments.”

— Mared, Nansi’s Mum

“I’m so pleased to have discovered Hannah’s adult ballet classes. As an ex-dancer it’s become a highlight of my week to be back at the barre enjoying Hannah’s wonderfully inclusive and uplifting ballet class. Highly recommended!”

— Fenella, adult ballet-goer
